The Polini, Malossi and Pinasco racing variators often have the problem that the lowest distance between the pulleys in the rest position is greater than the width of the V-belt. This results in the V-belt rubbing on the variator bolt at low engine speeds and starting to flutter. As a result, the V-belt wears out more quickly, which can lead to a tear and thus prevent further driving.
